I just learned this evening about Verna's death. I will always remember when my cousin Linda and I sat on her farm porch and listened to the wonderful family history that she related to us. She was a wonderful woman whom I fell in love with that day. I hope the wonderful memories of her life will sustain the family and friends in their grief. Nancy Jackson

Message from David Snyder - February 06 at 03:33 PM

Verna, like all the Elbons, was part of my "adopted" family. She treated my like one of her own and I loved her dearly. I loved spending time with her, my Uncle Phill, Flip and Tacy at the family farm. Verna was so kind and loving and had a wonderful sense of humor. I always enjoyed her cooking on the wood burning stove, you always knew her food was made with love as cooked for everyone. Many wonderful things can be said about Verna, but the two things everyone can agree on are that she was a hard working woman and she raised six of the most amazing children I know. Please accept my condolences on the loss of such a beautiful woman. The entire Elbon family has a special place in my heart. I love all of you. David Snyder

We were all so blessed to have this wonderful women in our lives for so many years. When my oldest children were young, I was privileged to live with her and watch her share her wonderful ethics and heart with them. When I met my now husband Kevin. I not only took him to the farm to meet my children, but also get her approval or disapproval of him.I knew if she didn't like him she would send him on his merry way. She allowed him to stay, but put him in he farthest bedroom from the heat. She gave him about 15 quilts to keep him warm though. Some of my most wonderful memories in life were spent on the farm in the summers with my cousins and her. Sometimes just sitting on the front porch in the porch swings with her. Then being blessed, later in her life, to watch all my children enjoy those same memories with her. My youngest Taylor became her light in the last few years of her life. The smile I saw on her face when they were together was priceless. I know that we will all miss her, but feel truly blessed to have had her so many years. We love you grandma

My deepest heartfelt sympathy for the Elbon family. I became acquainted with Verna through my best friend Shirley Elbon approximately 10 years ago. During that time I became to know Verna as a sweet little lady, always kind and made me feel welcome. I will miss seeing Verna when visiting with her family. Phil I am so very sorry and I love you guys! Pam
