Coach was a wonderful man with a heart of gold. His deep love for Phyllis and their family was evident in everything he did. I can never thank him enough for all the kindness and guidance Phyllis and he showed me over the years.
Message from Percy C. Ashcraft - September 13, 2014 at 08:59 AM

I had the honor to play for Coach Devono in both football and basketball from 1970-72. We beat Mike Carey & his Central Junior High team in 1972 for the Class B Junior High Championship, the school's first since the 1940's. But what I remember most about Coach is he taught all of us to say "excuse me" when you walked in front of someone, especially a person older than you. He commanded respect and he got it, although carrying around that wooden paddle helped. Love you Coach! May you rest in peace!---Percy C. Ashcraft, Summit Park Class of 1972.

Thoughts and prayers are with Coach Devano's family. He was my teacher and track coach at Summit Park Jr. 1976-78. His passion for competitiveness was contagious, a quality I have passed on to my children. May your journey during this time be a peaceful one.Donna McNemar MatsonSummit Park Junior High Class of 1978
