Welcome to the memorial page for

Homer Duane Adams

March 18, 1937 ~ August 15, 2014 (age 77) 77 Years Old
Homer D. Adams, 77, of Anmoore, WV, passed away at 10:15 AM on Aug 15, 2014. He was born on March 18,1937 in Gilmer County, WV. He was the son of Luther and Sylvia Adams. He was married for 58 years to Joy Lee Newlon Adams who survives. He is also survived by three children, Pastor Duane (Teresa) Adams, Pastor Dale (Debi) Adams and Deanna (Michael) Saliga, seven grand-children, Jason (Kim) Adams, Ashley Adams, Tiffany Criss, Joshua Adams, Jonathan Adams, Andrew Saliga and Elizabeth (Tim) Lassiter and eight great-grandchildren, Eladio, Amora, Isaiah, Isaac, Zoe, Alivia, Emberly, and Levi.

He was preceded in death by one son and one great-granddaughter. In addition, he is survived by two brothers, John (Jean) Adams of Tipp City, OH and Jim (Martha) Adams of Bowling Green, Missouri, and five sisters, Levina May (Jackie) McCray of Anmoore, WV, Wanda (Joni) Shreves of Adamston, WV, Virginia (Richard) Raikes of Shinnston, WV, JoAnn (Gene) Branson of Mooresville, NC, and Marilyn (Mickie) Huff of Anmoore, WV.

Homer was a self made man. With only an 8th grade education, he went on to become one of the premier contractors in the area. For over 40 years he built homes in north central West Virginia. He was in high demand as a home builder for the Briarwood and Shearwood developments in Bridgeport, WV. He taught his trade to both of his sons who, much to his dismay, became pastors instead. He modeled a life of hard work and integrity and doing things right "the first time". He was quick to help those in need. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at World Vision in Philippi, WV. His greatest passions were working and driving, both of which he did in great abundance. He will be greatly missed by all, but his legacy will live on in the homes he built and the character he deposited into his children.

Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 17th from 2:00-8:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home in Clarksburg, WV. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Aug.18th at 11:00 am with his grandson, Jason Adams officiating. The family would like to express their gratitude to Genesis Health Care and hospice for their kind care in his last days. As you know, Homer thought that flowers were a waste of money so in lieu of flowers please make donations to World Vision or the Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be sent to the family at DavisFuneralHomeWV.com. Davis Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Homer Adams.
