My Dad, Dick Baumgardner, had known George most of both their lives and is saddened at his passing. He shared a story with me: He had gone to George's home (I don't know what age they were) to spend the night and they (and possibly a cousin of George's) camped out. Dad said that the nearby horses nearly scared them out of their wits! Also that it was so cold it was hard to take. There are so many George Allen stories that we could all tell that are fun, funny, and joyful. It was good seeing the family today and sharing some of our joint memories of growing up in the same neighborhood in Liberty Addition.

I have many happy memories of George and Mary and the family in our little neighborhood in Liberty Addition. George's trademark smile and ready laugh were always present, even when we school children laughed at him when he inadvertently sat in the classroom 'time out' chair during one visit. He was always a strong presence at our community church, with Mary at his side. Many fond memories of Sunday School class and VBS at that little church with all the Allens. God's blessings on your family.

Our sincere sympathy to the Allen Family at this sad time. I have often commented in cards to George via Cathy about George picking us up to go to church in the family station wagon and then, while Mary waited patiently at the church with her children, he would take us home first. In later years, I thought--he should have taken his family home first! He was so dedicated to the youth at Liberty E.U.B. Church for so many years, and made a difference in my life just by getting me there. We were a very active youth group. I tell my Grandchildren that my teen activities were mostly at my church. --all because of George and Mary, and Jean and Mason. Many teens became Christians because George took the time. May God bless his family as they mourn his passing.
