John Franklin Mazzie

John Franklin Mazzie, age 59, of Clarksburg, WV passed away suddenly at UHC on Thursday, March 27, 2014.

John Mazzie was born on January 28, 1955 in Clarksburg, WV a son to the late Russell J. Mazzie, Sr., and Mary L. Roveto Mazzie. He retired from Fourco/AFG, currently worked for Donna's Holiday Shop in Summit Park, graduated from Victory High School in 1973, the last graduating class, member of the Knights of Columbus, Clarksburg #872, past President and Vice-President of Jerry West League, an instructor for Harrison County Parks and Recreation, was recording secretary for United Steelworkers #518, he was an AVID Notre Dame fan, and walked daily with close friends, Donnie, Kyle, Greg, Tom, and Herme at the mall or VA park, except on Sundays.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda J. (Thompson) Mazzie, whom he married on July 16, 1983; son, John Paul and Natalie Mazzie, Cedar Park, Texas; daughter, Mary Beth (Mazzie) and Chris Stewart, of Morgantown; loving siblings, Rita (Mazzie) and Danny Knight, Jimmy and Annie Mazzie, Frank G. and Virginia Mazzie, and Paul T. Mazzie, all of Clarksburg; sister-in-laws, Brenda D. Mazzie, Karolann Mazzie, all of Clarksburg, and Cora Mae Thompson, of Atlanta, GA, very close friends, Greg and Ginny Pulice, Phil and Ella Green, all of Clarksburg; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews also survive. Also surviving are his beloved dog, Pandora and cat, Hershey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Michael A. Mazzie on (July 25, 2009) and Russell "Rusty" Mazzie, Jr., on (May 22, 2009); mother and father-in-law Dever and Mary Freeman Thompson.

The family will receive friends at the Davis Funeral Home Rt. 98/Clarksburg on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 4-8pm and again on Monday from Noon until 8:00pm. There will be a Vigil Service at 5:00pm on Monday from the Chapel of Davis Funeral Home with Father Alfred Obiudu, presiding.
A Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 10:00am from St. James Catholic Church with Father Alfred Obiudu and Father Benny Kapa, as Celebrants.
Interment will follow at Broad Run Cemetery in Jane Lew, WV.
In-lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of John F. Mazzie to the St. James Altar Rosary Society/Kitchen Renovation at 2107 Pride Avenue, Clarksburg, WV 26301 or to the Harrison County Humane Society at 2450 Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV 26431.
