Delbert "Scott" Cottrill, 59, of Winter Springs, Florida, formerly of Clarksburg, WV passed over on Sunday, May 8th 2016 after a brief illness.
He was born in Clarksburg, on July 28, 1956, a son of the late Donald and Phyllis Lovett Cottrill. Scott served the Department of the Navy on the USS La Salle in the Persian Gulf War. Scott loved his family, the West Virginia hills, nature, animals, and loved to study history and his ancestry. He was a quiet, gentle, kind, and generous man who had a great sense of humor who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Marie Shope Cottrill; beloved daughter, Melissa Jean Cottrill, two sisters and their families, Bernice Foruria, Alberto, Mitxel, Kellen of Casselberry, FL, Denice Cottrill-Smith, David, Mitchell, and Phyllis of Vienna WV.
In addition to his parents, Scott was preceded in death by a son, Jason Hughes; a nephew Jay Smith; grandparents Delbert and Bernice Lovett, Clay and Eulah Cottrill.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery with the Reverend Rodney Heckert officiating.
