Winifred "Winnie" Marie (Horihan) Hensley

Winifred Marie Hensley (nee Horihan), 78, died peacefully at her home in Stonewood, WV September 6, 2023. She was born August 31, 1945 in Erie, PA, daughter of the late Martin J and Winifred Eschner Horihan, and was preceded in death by her brother Martin J Horihan, her loving husband John D Hensley III and her grandson Ruis Owin-Brown.

          Professionally, Winnie cared for others as a nurse until her retirement. She pursued many creative interests, enjoyed quilting, ceramics, and gardening. She was an active and enthusiastic participant of living history events with The National Muzzleloading and Living History Foundation. She volunteered with her mother with the Presque Isle Clowns in Erie, PA and with her husband John for Disabled American Veterans in Grove City, OH.

          Her determination and sense of humor will continue to inspire her daughters Jennie Shuster (Ron) of Stonewood, WV and Sophie Smith (Dan) of Batesville, VA. She will be missed by her siblings William, Steve, Mary Alice and Nora and her grandchildren Jacob, June and Zachary.

          Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home Rt 98 Clarksburg on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 1-5PM to Celebrate Winnie’s Life. She will be reunited with her husband John in interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Ritman, OH. Online condolences can be made at www.davisfuneralhomewv.com.
