Wilma Sue Denholm, 81, of Clarksburg, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Friday, January 2, 2026, at United Hospital Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 29, 1944, in Clarksburg, she was the cherished daughter of the late Russell Royal Sandy and Lucy Mae Radcliff Sandy.
Wilma lived a life marked by faith, independence, and deep love for those around her. She was a proud graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School and Fairmont State College. Throughout her life, she embraced learning and service, beginning her career as a French teacher, retiring after more than 35 years of dedicated service as a billing manager for Verizon, and ultimately working as a real estate agent in South Carolina until 2022.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Wilma was a devoted member of The Well in Eastview, where she found strength, purpose, and community. She lived boldly and authentically, traveling the world and embracing life on her own terms. She found joy in dancing, listening to music, and creating memories wherever she went.
One of Wilma’s greatest loves was her animals, especially her beloved dogs, Dash and Diablo, who were constant companions and a source of comfort and happiness.
Wilma leaves behind a legacy of love through her three devoted children: Douglas Denholm (Dedra) of Clarksburg, Amy Westbury (Tony) of Mullins, South Carolina, and Jennifer Bode of Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was a proud and loving grandmother to seven grandchildren—Christopher Wilt, Gregory Denholm, Rebecca Mellott, Amanda Knisley (Matthew), Makayla Denas, Alexander Bode, and Kayden Bode—and a treasured great-grandmother to Nicolas, Aria, Kaylee, Matthew, and Elayna. She is also survived by her sister, Jessica June Morris of Clarksburg, along with several nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her warmth and spirit.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Frank Sandy, Jean Feeney, and Linda Sandy.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Davis Funeral Home for a time of sharing from 4:00 PM until the Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 PM, with Pastor Randy Smith officiating.
Wilma will be remembered for her unwavering faith, adventurous spirit, and the fierce love she had for her family. Though she will be deeply missed, her joy, strength, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Online condolences may be shared at www.davisfuneralhomewv.com.
