William “Bill” Franklin Knapp, Jr., 58, of Fairmont passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at United Hospital Center. He was born May 1, 1962 in Gauley Bridge, WV, son of the late William Franklin Knapp Sr. and Bobbie Lou Campbell Knapp.
Bill was a lover of all sports. WVU, Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates were his favorite college and professional teams. He was an avid bowler with seven 300 games and two 800 series games. He also enjoyed hunting and golfing. Early in his career, he spent 20 years at CAMC (Charleston Area Medical Center) in Charleston, WV, 1 year at Camp Dawson as an Assistant General Manager and most recently, at WVU in Facilities Management as a Program Assistant II.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Tricia Ward Knapp; his aunts Kenna and husband Roger O’Neal, Sheila Campbell Patton and husband Bill and Carolyn Puckett all of Beckley, WV; aunt, Irene McIntosh, OH; niece, Christi Holtsclaw; father and mother-in-law, Doug and Sue Ward, sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Walter Ellison and nephew, Jack Ellison and wife Betsy; and his beloved cats, Dexter, Mortimer, Alley, and Sammie.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Terica Knapp Roush; his uncle Charles Larry Campbell; nephews, Scott Warden, Charles Aaron Holtsclaw and Seth Ellison.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM and at First Baptist Church of Saint Albans, 2nd Street and 6th Avenue, St. Albans, WV on March 8, 2021 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Joel Harpold officiating with proper distancing and face mask required. Interment will follow at Forest Memorial Cemetery in Milton, WV.
