William “Paul” Steel, 45, of Clarksburg, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at his residence.
Born on February 6, 1980, he was the son of the late Alice Virginia Steel and William Paul Turner.
Paul’s life was marked by his kind heart, his passion for sports, and the connections he made with others. For many years, he worked in retail, most recently at the 7-Eleven in Wilsonburg. His love for football was unwavering, and he passionately followed the San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Miami Hurricanes. He also found camaraderie in the 49ers fan club on Facebook, where he formed lasting friendships that meant the world to him.
Outside of sports, Paul enjoyed spending his downtime playing PlayStation, and his spirit was always full of warmth and good humor. He had a remarkable ability to connect with others, and his friendship with his cousin, Robert L. Steel, was especially cherished—Robert was not just family, but a best friend to Paul.
Paul’s family was everything to him. He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Lynn Henderson Steel; his cousin and best friend, Robert L. Steel, of Gregory’s Run; two half-sisters, Paula Turner of Clarksburg and Sharon Turner of Ohio and her children; and three stepchildren, Megan Ash (Brent Nicholson), Deanna Ash, and Dustin Nice (Victoria Currey), all of Clarksburg. He also leaves behind three beautiful step-grandchildren: Mason, Brynlee, and Kaiser; and his beloved uncle, Roger Quinn.
Paul’s passing is deeply felt, and he is reunited with those who preceded him in death: his brother, Robert M. “Bob” Davis; and his aunt, Sharon Steel Quinn. While their absence leaves a profound void, their love and memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
Family and friends will gather at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 3:00pm until the time of the Celebration of Life service at 7:00pm, with Amy Eastman officiating. A private inurnment will take place at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his care fund on his memorial page.
