William Allen Exline, 60 of Moatsville passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025 with family by his side. He was born on December 30, 1964 in Morgantown the son of the late Clarence Eugene (Gene) Exline and Marline Exline. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Janey Exline, whom he married in Maryland on a spontaneous day drive. He is also survived by two daughters Robin Whittaker and husband Clay Whittaker of Sonoma County, CA and Krista Exline of Buckhannon; five grandchildren; his sister, Kimberly Kay Exline of Morgantown and brother Clarence Exline of Morgantown.
William was exceptionally driven and had an unbreakable work ethic. While raising his daughters and working full-time, he put himself through school to become a licensed Master Electrician. William enjoyed staying informed on current events, hunting, riding ATVs, watching football, westerns and sci-fi, working on his property, running, playing pool and basketball in his younger years, and listening to music with loved ones. William was a steadfast husband, father, and grandfather. William maintained a strong moral compass in a world where many have forgotten what that means. His kindness was only shielded by his strength. William left a lasting impact on those who knew him and almost always had a witty pleasantry for those who didn’t. It was important to him that others were smiling. He will be immensely missed and forever irreplaceable.
William was a fearless fighter throughout his life, but even more so in the end. “No, I won't back down. You can stand me up at the gates of Hell, But I won't back down. No, I'll stand my ground. Won't be turned around. And I'll keep this world from draggin' me down. Gonna stand my ground. And I won't back down." ~Tom Petty
In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated. Online condolences may be sent to www.DavisFuneralHomeWV.com. Davis Funeral Home is honored to assist the Exline family.
