Virginia Mae Metz, 84, of Mount Clare, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 in Bridgeport at United Hospital Center. She was born on November 25, 1940 in Cedarville, WV, a daughter of the late William Smith and Stella Snyder Smith
She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Gary Sterling Metz who passed away on August 3, 2014. They were married on August 29, 1977.
She is survived by her daughters Anita Clark and husband Edward of Lost Creek and Karen Goves and husband Van of McWhorter; eleven grandchildren, Amberly Kiser and husband Matthew, Edward Clark, Jr., and wife Allie, Van “JR” Groves and wife Deidra, Justin Groves, Jennifer Sue Smith, Olive Rule, Ricky Dix, Stella Donaldson, Jessie Dix, Angel Eagle and Ashley Tetrick; and several great grandchildren; one sister, Lorena Thomas of KY and one brother, John Smith of Glenville, WV.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Dix and one son, Harold “Ray” Burrows; and five brothers and sisters.
Virginia was employed as a CNA at Crestview Manor for 15 years and she enjoyed going to yard sales and spending time with her family.
