Todd Joseph Belch, 54, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on June 20, 1971, in Fairmont, West Virginia, the cherished son of Suzanne Hildreth Belch of Fairmont and the late Joseph Belch.
Todd is survived by his beloved wife, Gwen Ann Belch, whom he lovingly married on July 24, 2010. Together, they shared a bond filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. He also leaves behind his cherished daughter, Emily Johnson and her spouse, Billy, of Fairmont; his step-son, Nick Banuelos, of Fairmont; and the precious granddaughter he was eagerly awaiting, Harlynn.
Todd is also survived by his two loving sisters, Cindy Moorehead and her spouse, Ronnie, of Fairmont, and Crystal Sypolt and her husband, Alan, of Idamay, along with several nieces and nephews who will deeply miss his kindness, humor, and presence in their lives.
Todd was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent many years as a longwall machinist in the coal mines, where his skill, determination, and strong work ethic earned the respect of everyone around him. He understood the value of hard labor and took pride in doing every job right. Later, he brought that same knowledge and commitment to his work as an electrical engineer in the natural gas industry, where his intelligence and problem-solving abilities made him someone others could always depend on.
In the last several years, Todd enjoyed the visits with his best friend, Mike Roscoe. He was a proud member of the Car Crafters in Mannington. He was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and the freedom of riding motorcycles. If something was broken, he could fix it, no matter what it was, and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His lively sense of humor could light up a room, and he always knew how to make people laugh, even on the toughest days. More than anything, he will be remembered for his generous heart, hardworking spirit, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and friendship.
Per Todd’s wishes he will be cremated. A Celebrations of Todd’s Life will be held at the Highgate Carriage House, 830 Walnut Ave. Fairmont, WV 26554, on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 4:00pm. The family asks that you bring your favorite memories, your laughter, and the joy Todd inspired.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Todd’s funeral care fund located on his memorial page.
Though he will be deeply missed, Todd’s love and memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
