Thomas Glen “Tom” “Slick” Monroe, 72, of Stonewood, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at his residence.
He was born July 17, 1953, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Clarksburg, a son of the late Arnold Glen Monroe and Alta Mae Wingfield Monroe.
Tom worked for a residential and commercial construction company for many years. He also worked as a security guard at Highland Hospital. He enjoyed yard work, especially mowing the grass. He loved his animals—Thomas the cat and Isabella the dog—playing the lottery, collecting all sorts of things, reading (especially westerns), gardening, and tending to flowers.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet Carol Dunbar Monroe, whom he married September 4, 1971; three daughters, Angela Ozalas (Joseph) of Grafton, Wendy Lindsey (Timothy) of Shinnston, and Kelly Estep (Chad) of Clarksburg; seven grandchildren, Jacob Lindsey (Keiko), Cord Ozalas, Hunter Ozalas (Emily), Timothy P. Lindsey (Shianne), Taylor Bonnett, Kyleigh Bonnett, and Cooper Estep; one great-grandson, Elijah Thomas Ozalas; and five siblings, Anna Mae Eppelein of Stonewood, Ronald Monroe (Deborah) of Clarksburg, Kathy Scott (Richard) of Anmoore, Tammy Monroe of Seneca, and Carol Welch of North Carolina. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews to which he loved and teased endlessly.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by two children in infancy and six siblings: Robert Zickefoose, Carl Vest, Boyd “Bunny” Vest, Kenneth Vest, Mary Lou Pyle, and Deloris Lynch.
Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive (Route 98), Clarksburg, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5:30 p.m., with Timothy Lindsey and Kelly Estep officiating.
