Thomas John “Tom” Harris, 77, of Stonewood, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at United Hospital Center.
Born on February 21, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Tom was the beloved son of the late Robert Charles Harris and Rosemary Bost Harris.
Tom was a graduate of Braddock High School and later earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. He dedicated his entire career to education, serving as a mathematics teacher at Flintstone High School and Westmar Middle School in Allegany County, Maryland. Tom took great pride in teaching and guiding generations of students, sharing not only his knowledge of mathematics but also his patience and quiet encouragement.
Outside of the classroom, Tom enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He was a devoted fan of West Virginia University athletics and could often be found cheering for his favorite Pittsburgh teams, the Steelers and the Pirates. An avid reader, Tom found joy and comfort in books and spent many peaceful hours lost in a good story.
Above all, Tom treasured his family. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Kim Louk and her husband Jeremy of Lost Creek; and his two cherished granddaughters, Madison and Abigail Louk, who brought great pride and happiness to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Germanoski and her husband Terry of Butler, Pennsylvania; his nephew, Christopher Germanoski and wife Kerry; two great-nephews, Ryan and Andrew; and his faithful four-legged companion, Hazel, who was always by his side.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his nephew, Jeffrey Germanoski.
Honoring Tom’s wishes, cremation will take place. Though he may be gone from this world, the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
