Terry Powell Obituary

Terry Alice Powell, 79, of Clarksburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at United Hospital Center, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on June 20, 1946, in Bridgeport, West Virginia, Terry was the beloved daughter of the late Ralph J. Moore and Dorothy Ellen Dawson Moore.

Terry leaves behind her cherished children: Teresa Nicola of Irwin, PA; Frances Taylor of Martinsburg, WV; Angela Randolph and her husband, Timothy, of Greensburg, PA; and Sherry McNemar and her husband, Daniel, of Clarksburg, WV. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Tim Wolford, Noel Davis, Samantha Sullivan and her husband, Dan, Kole Randolph, Daniel McNemar, Jr. and his wife, Ashley, and Dakota McNemar. Her legacy continues through her treasured great-grandchildren: Addison Wolford, Timmy Wolford, Josie Wolford, Teagan Sullivan, Taryn Sullivan, Ethan McNemar, and Hadley McNemar.

She is also survived by her sister, Charlotte Monroe of Philippi, WV; her son-in-law, Kevin O’Brien of Las Vegas, NV; and several special nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

In addition to her parents, Terry was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Powell; her daughter, Laura Lee O’Brien; and her siblings, Sharon Seech and Randal Moore.

A talented and accomplished aircraft mechanic, Terry dedicated many years of service to Pratt & Whitney before her retirement. She earned her degree in Aviation from Fairmont State University and was known by family and friends as someone who could fix just about anything. Her intelligence, determination, and strong work ethic earned the admiration of all who knew her.

Outside of her career, Terry found joy in the simple beauties of life. She loved spending time outdoors, tending to flowers, visiting the beach, and collecting seashells along the shore. She had a special affection for all living creatures—even the smallest bugs—and approached the world with curiosity and compassion. She had a special love for her cats, who brought her endless comfort, joy and companionship.

Above all else, Terry's greatest love was her family. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The memories she created, the lessons she shared, and the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her forever.

Throughout her courageous battles with multiple cancers, Terry demonstrated remarkable strength, resilience, and grace. She faced each challenge with unwavering determination and a positive spirit that inspired everyone around her. Even in the most difficult moments, Terry’s kindness, love and concern for others never wavered. Her courage in the face of adversity was a true reflection of her strong character and enduring spirit.

Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on through the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched.

In keeping with her generous and selfless nature, Terry made the decision to donate her body to the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry. Through this final act of giving, she will continue to help educate future medical professionals and contribute to advancements in healthcare, leaving a lasting impact on generations to come.
