Steven T. Curry loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. He left this world for a joyous heavenly reunion on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 6:40 p.m. after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on April 29, 1954 in Clarksburg, WV to John H. Curry, Jr. and Mary Maxine Myers Curry of Mt. Clare, WV.
He was a graduate of South Harrison High School and West Virginia University with an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, and had the honor of being inducted into Phi Beta Kappa during his Senior year. He then went on to attend West Virginia University School of Dentistry and graduated in three years, magna cum laude. For many years he practiced dentistry in Lost Creek, before moving his private practice of Dentistry to Clarksburg, WV. A kind and gentle man, Steve saw the need for treating frightened patients and took it up as a special calling. He gave compassionate and loving care to his patients for over 47 years before retiring because of mounting health problems. When he told his patients he was retiring, they cried. For the 47 years he practiced, he made a positive mark in the dental world. His dental office was an oasis of peace and happiness: for the patients, for the employees and for friends who frequently stopped by.
In his personal life, he "found his person" and married the love of his life, Ammie Kathleen (Kathy) Duncan. Together they built a happy home and raised two sons: John H. Curry, IV and William Robert Curry (Beth), who were-- along with his grandson Jack-- his pride and joy. Also surviving to cherish his memory are: a beloved brother, John (Judy) Curry of Mt. Clare, a much loved older sister Jessie (Dan) Saunders of Georgia, and cherished baby sister Mary Ann (Scott) Hall of South Carolina; beloved cousins, nephews, nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces; along with some wonderful, good friends who were actually adopted family members. One friend faithfully attended his bedside for days and was with him as he went on to Glory.
His life was a success. He lived well, loved and was loved, helped many, many people and was a good and loyal friend. His absence is felt by all who knew him because he wasn't just a point of light in this difficult world: he was a blazing torch. He was a good, good man. He was raised by his loving parents in the Seventh-Day Baptist faith and remained a devout Christian until he drew his last breath. He loved his God, his family and his country and was happiest spending time with family and friends on the old family farm in southern Harrison County. He was a lifetime member of the American Dental Association, a past president of the Harrison County Dental Society, a member of the Facial Aesthetics Association, was an Admiral of the Cherry River Navy, a founding member of the Scottish Heritage Society of North Central WV, and in earlier years, was a Second Degree Black Belt in Chi Do Kwan Karate.
