Sonny Bailey Obituary

With profound sadness and enduring love, we announce the passing of Sonny Bailey, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend, who left this world peacefully at home on Friday, November 21, 2025, surrounded by the family he so deeply cherished. Sonny faced his battle with ALS with remarkable courage and unwavering grace, inspiring everyone blessed enough to know him.

Born on October 12, 1965, in Clarksburg, Sonny was the son of Delberta Ruth Powell Wilfong (John) of Flemington and the late George Wesley Bailey Sr. From the very beginning, Sonny’s generous heart and vibrant spirit shone brightly. He poured himself into the things that mattered most—his family, their shared farm, and the work he took pride in each day.

Sonny had a gift for making others feel welcome, seen, and valued. His booming laugh could fill any room, and his steady kindness brought comfort to countless hearts. He lived by a strong moral compass, never wavering in his beliefs, and always offering encouragement, a helping hand, or a story that lifted the spirit of those around him.

A natural athlete, Sonny excelled in basketball, playing at Flemington High School before continuing at AB College and later traveling across the world to play professionally in Australia—an adventure he carried with pride and joy throughout his life.

In addition to his mother, Sonny is survived by his loving wife, Traci Dian Montgomery Bailey, and his three children, Tara, Sonny Jordan (Julia), and Christopher Bailey; his granddaughter, Olliana; his brother, Jud Bailey; nephews Damon Bailey and Cody Mayle; and niece Shandale Bailey and Bayli Underwood. Each of them will forever hold close the lessons he taught, the laughter he sparked, and the unconditional love he offered so freely.

He was preceded in death by his father, his sister, Lisa and his grandparents, who he now joins in eternal peace.

Sonny’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and the strength of the human spirit. Even in the face of ALS, he greeted each day with gratitude, faith, and a determination to continue shining light into the lives of those around him. His legacy is woven into the memories he created, the values he instilled, and the countless acts of kindness he shared.

A celebration of Sonny’s life will be held at Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 PM, with Pastor Jeffrey A. Perine officiating. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the beautiful, full life Sonny lived.
