Shirley Ann Toothman

Shirley Ann Toothman, 89, of West Milford, Left this mortal life on Monday, September 23, 2024 peacefully with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 5, 1935 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of the late Jesse Franklin and Estelle Collier Flickner.

Shirley’s greatest treasure was her family. Her loving husband, Daniel Lee “Jerry” Toothman, daughter, Mary Estelle Toothman, her parents, brother, William Boyd Flickner and great-grandchild, David Toothman preceded her in death.

Shirley is survived by her son, Jerry Lee Toothman; daughter, Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Castillo and husband, Henry; seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Shirley met and married the love of her life in 1952, the adventure began. Being a military wife, she traveled and lived many places, at times in the position of a single parent when her husband deployed. She enjoyed water skiing, being a part of a water ski show doing ballet on slalom and doubled with her husband doing stunts. She actively supported her children in their high school endeavors attending many sporting events and parades. She was an exceptional seamstress, making many of her family’s clothes. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and collecting salt and pepper shakers.

Per Shirley’s request there will be no viewing. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, RT 98, Clarksburg on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 1:00PM. Internment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Shirley would be pleased if in lieu of flowers, contributions were to be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her honor.
