Shirley Virginia (Taylor) Dolan

Shirley Virginia Dolan, 98, of Clarksburg passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at St Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home, Monongah. She was born May 6, 1922 in Clarksburg, daughter of the late Herbert Roy Taylor Sr and Hazel Elizabeth Anderson Taylor.

Shirley graduated from Washington Irving High School, Class of 1940. She attended WV Wesleyan College and got a Bachelors in Business and a Minor in Latin and Spanish. She worked as a Secretary to General Council at Steptoe and Johnson retired from Consolidated Natural Gas.  She was a member of the Stealey United Methodist Church where she was in the choir for over fifty years.  Shirley enjoyed playing golf at Sunny Croft Country Club; playing bridge, traveling, and working in her flower gardens. She lived life to the fullest and loved and cherished her family.       

Shirley is survived by her nieces and nephews, Melinda Hodges, Royal, AR; Jeffrey Taylor and Karen, Little Elm, TX, Sarah McVeigh and John, Winterport, ME, Phil Dolan and Sue, Dixmont, ME, Lib DeStefano and Ed, Carbondale, CO, and Rich Dolan and Loraine, Rutherfordton, NC; several great and great great nieces and nephews; very close friend and neighbor, Joyce Harris, Clarksburg.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Michael Dolan on April 8, 2006; brother and sister-in-law, Herbert Roy Taylor Jr and wife Barbara Joan “Babs” Taylor; one nephew, John Dolan.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 1:00PM at Bridgeport Cemetery with Rev. Michael Burge officiating. We will be meeting at Davis Funeral Home at 12 NOON with a funeral procession to Bridgeport Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to Davisfuneralhomewv.com.
