Scott Harper Obituary

Scott Robert Harper, 60, passed away on February 9, 2026, at the Tygart Center in Fairmont, West Virginia.

He was born April 10, 1965, in Huntington, Pennsylvania, to Robert and Lillian Lang Harper. Scott grew up with a strong work ethic and a practical spirit that stayed with him throughout his life.

Scott was a Washington Irving high school graduate. He built a life centered around helping others. Known by many as a dependable handyman, he took pride in fixing things, lending a hand, and being someone, family, friends, and neighbors could count on. He found purpose in simple acts of service and the satisfaction of honest work. Scott was a self-taught chain saw carving artist and a Grut Artist, showing pieces at the MAC center in Morgantown, WV. Scott always had “that part” that would fix anything and got great joy in fixing it.

He is survived by his daughters, Veronica Harper, and her mother, Robin, of Fairmont, Tojhia and Courtney Dawson; his sister, Sandy Earley of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; his beloved grandchildren who lovingly called him  “Paw”; and many nieces and nephews who will remember his quiet strength, kind heart, and willingness to help whenever needed. He also dearly loved his animals Puppy and Kitten.

Scott will be remembered as a man who lived simply, loved his family deeply, and gave of himself without expecting anything in return. His presence, steady guidance, and familiar smile will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Scott believed in the Kingdom of God and lived a simple life.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no service. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. His family will carry his memory forward in their hearts, finding comfort in the moments shared and the love he leaves behind.

Scott would always end his conversation with “Yes, Yes “and “Lord Willing”. May the Four Winds Blow Him Safely Home.
