Roger Lynn Goodwin, 71, of Stonewood, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026 in Bridgeport.  He was born on October 18, 1954 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Matthew Goodwin and Mavis Evangeline Eskew Goodwin.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Brenda Witty Goodwin whom he married on August 30, 2003.

He is also survived by his children, Courtney Goodwin and her companion Matt of Morgantown, Chuck Bland and wife Monica of Pittsburgh, Kelly Smarr and husband Scott of Fairmont, Jamie Bland and wife Katie of State College, Lucas Starkey and companion Andrea of Bridgeport, Billy Bland and companion Sam of Salem and Mark Starkey and wife Jennifer of Clarksburg; grandchildren, Caitlyn Starkey, Matthew Starkey, Michael Starkey, Kayla Starkey, Lucas Starkey, Tyler Hartzel, Kirsten Williams, Timothy, Tyson and Skyler Wingert; and numerous great grandchildren.

Roger was a graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School, Class of 1972, and later attended Fairmont State University, where he pursued classes in horticulture, reflecting his lifelong appreciation for plants and nature. He spent many dedicated years working in retail sales until his retirement, building lasting relationships with customers and coworkers alike. His career included time with Heck’s, Montgomery Ward, and Freed’s Greenhouse. Roger was truly a salesman at heart and had a natural ability to talk with anyone, making people feel comfortable and valued.

Outside of work, Roger enjoyed spending time selling merchandise at flea markets and yard sales. He had a strong interest in cars and a true love for plants, but one of his greatest joys was taking care of his yard, where his hard work and attention to detail were always evident. He took pride in keeping things neat and well cared for.

Roger will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his warm, easygoing personality. He was compassionate, loving, thrifty, and meticulous in all that he did. He believed in working hard, helping others when he could, and living life with kindness and integrity.  He was a faithful and devoted member of the Clarksburg Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Anmoore, where his faith was an important foundation in his life. He valued fellowship, service, and the friendships he built within his congregation.  Roger will be remembered for his steady presence, his kind heart, and the many lives he touched through his friendship, faith, and generosity.

Family and friends will be received at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 71 Benedum Run Road, Anmoore on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
