Robert "Bob" Wayne Hughes

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Robert “Bob” Wayne Hughes, 75, of Clarksburg, announces his peaceful passing on Friday, June 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on August 31, 1950, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Bob was the beloved son of the late Virgil Grover Hughes and Annamae Elizabeth Wells Hughes. Throughout his life, Bob exemplified dedication, kindness, humility, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

A proud graduate of South Harrison High School, Class of 1968, Bob answered the call to serve his country in the United States Navy, where he honorably served for four years. Following his military service, he pursued higher education at Fairmont State College, earning a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

Bob built an impressive career that reflected both his intelligence and strong work ethic. He worked with the United States Department of State as part of the Logistics Engineering Team, traveling extensively to embassies throughout Asia, India, Europe, and other parts of the world. Later, he continued his career with Frontier Communications, where he retired in 2022 as a Fleet Supervisor.

While Bob took great pride in his professional accomplishments, his greatest joy was always found at home with those he loved most. He was a devoted husband, a caring father, and a proud and loving grandfather. His family was the center of his world.

Bob enjoyed home improvement projects and could often be found outdoors working with his hands. He was the kind of neighbor who never hesitated to lend a helping hand and delighted in helping neighborhood children repair and tinker with their bicycles. His generosity, patience, and gentle spirit touched countless lives and left lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Those who knew Bob will remember his quiet strength, his willingness to help others, his sense of humor, and the love he freely gave to family and friends. The memories he created and the values he instilled will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Donna Kimberley Cooper Hughes; his daughters, Lindsay Bowman and husband Nathan of Morgantown, and Lauren Hughes and fiancé Luke Lopez of Clarksburg; his cherished grandchildren, Natalie Bowman, Lucy Lopez, Lennon Lopez, and Luca Robert Michael Lopez; his brother, James Hughes and wife Diane of Baltimore, Maryland; his sister, Suellen Briggs and husband Terry, Pennsylvania, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Marcell Lynn Hughes.

A Graveside Service with military honors accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the United States Navy Honor Guard will be held at West Virginia National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Family and Friends will be meeting at Davis Funeral Home at 10:00 am to go to the cemetery in procession.

A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held later this summer, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and treasured memories of a life well lived.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing that Bob's love, guidance, and example will remain with us forever. His legacy of service, kindness, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
