Robert William Claypool, 96, of Stonewood, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 at his residence with family by his side. He was born on February 18, 1924 in Clarksburg, son of the late, John William Claypool and Hazel Bell Amos Claypool Menear. Robert served his country in the United States Army during WWII and he was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #476. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and won the state championship in 2009, G Class. He liked dancing and making wine. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Hermon #6 in Clarksburg. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Robert is survived by two sons, Robert "Bobby" W Claypool and Patricia Stout, Stonewood, Donald R Claypool and Crystal, Stonewood; six daughters, Emma "Dot" Yerkey and husband Bob, Fresno, OH, Sarah Faesenmeier and husband Bud, Stonewood, Sharlette Gaston, Stonewood, Dorothy "Jeanie" Faesenmeier Dawson, Clarksburg, Norma Claypool, Clarksburg; Rebecca "Becky" Loudin and husband Freddie, Stonewood; twenty five grandchildren, Robert "Bobby" Yerkey Jr., Donna Smith, Arthur "Ben" Faesenmeier III, Darlene and Dallas "DJ" Connolly, Randy and Judy Gaston, Robert "Dufer" and Keith Claypool, Carrie Poling, Andy Faesenmeier, Howard and LaNeal "Harley" Claypool, Lori, Patti "PJ", Richie Skidmore, Crystal Chandler, Donald "Dingy" , Latisha Oldaker, Drome Claypool, Michele Loudin, Ned Bocco III, Lee III and Kristen Loudin, Jonathan Griffis; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; three brothers, James “Jim” Claypool, Stonewood, Earnest Claypool, Clarksburg, Dorsey Claypool, Stonewood; two sisters, Joyce Cross, Stonewood, Sharon Menear, East Liverpool, OH; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Hattie Mae Swiger Claypool on May 21, 2011; one son, Howard "Happy" Claypool; two daughters, Cora "Tiny" Claypool and Connie "Jody" Skidmore; one daughter-in-law, Patty Pumphrey Claypool; two son-in-laws, Jiggs Gaston and Jack Dawson; two grandsons, Tim Yerkey and Phillip Skidmore; one great grandson; two great great grandchildren; siblings, Charles “Pete” Claypool, Darrell Willis “Billy” Claypool, Ronald “Ronnie” Claypool, Shirley Wathey, Louella Frable, Donnie Menear, Carroll Mickey Menear, Mary Chandler, Patty Bassel and John Russell Claypool. Family and friends will be received at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Dr./Rt. 98, Clarksburg on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 2-7PM and Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from 9AM until time of service at 12:00 Noon with the Rev. Richard Settles officiating. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Park Cemetery with military honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the US Army Reserve Honor Guard.
