Robert Bland Abell, Jr., 83, of Flemington, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2026 at River Oaks in Nutter Fort, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 22, 1942 in Columbus, OH, a son of the late Robert Bland Abell, Sr. and Madeline Marie Green Abell.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Linda Almeda Abell; who passed away on May 19, 2026.
He is survived by one son, Michael Robert Abell of Bruceton Mills, grandchildren, Ashley Kirk and husband Gage, Tania Knick, Christopher Abell, Kenzie Abell, Addy Abell, Abby Abell and August Abell; great grandchildren, Braxtyn Abell, Zayden Abell, Scarlett Kirk and Olivia Kirk; Sister-in-law, Sharon Abell; two nephews, Mark Stout and Jason Abell.
In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by his brother Thomas Abell and a nephew David Stout.
Robert was a 1960 graduate of Washington Irving High School and worked for AFG in the Hot End department for more than 50 years. He took pride in his work and was dedicated throughout his long career. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, spending time in his garage, keeping his cars clean, and building model cars. Robert was known for being funny, caring, and quiet. He enjoyed the simple things in life and valued time spent with family and friends. He will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle nature, and great sense of humor.
