Richard "Earl" McCray

“Some glad morning when this life is o’er, I’ll fly away…” Richard Earl McCray did just that on the morning of April 27, 2021 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. Richard Earl McCray was born December 10, 1951 in Clarksburg, WV to the late James Robert McCray and Lavina Mae (Adams) McCray who survives in Anmoore. He was a lifetime resident of Anmoore, WV. Earl, as he was fondly called was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Vivian McCray; maternal grandparents, Luther and Sylvia Adams; an aunt, Lura McCray; a sister-in-law, Betty McCray; a brother-in-law, Robert Wentz; and a niece, Laura McCray; nephew, Jeremiah McCray. Earl is survived by his eight siblings: Edna Wentz of Anmoore, WV, Roberta (Elaine) and Ron Daughtery of Pikeville, KY, Robert (Ervin) McCray and companion Pat of Nettie, WV, Roger and Linda McCray of Bridgeport, WV, Randall McCray of Mount Clare, WV, Debra and Mark Robinson of Raleigh, NC, David of Zebulon, NC, Joel McCray of Anmoore, WV and sisters-in-law Lola McCray, Ruth Ann Giles, and Linda Rush McCray. Earl is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great- great nieces, and great-great nephews. During his working years, Earl worked for the Sheltered Workshop in Stonewood, WV. Earl loved going to church at Mt. Zion of Anmoore and Anmoore United Methodist Church and loved telling people about Jesus; he was one of God’s biggest evangelists. He loved everyone and did not let you leave without a big hug. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV 26301, on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 3:00PM-8:00PM and Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 9:00AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00AM with Pastor Doug Sands with Oasis Worship Center and Pastor Rita Robinson with Jewel City Church officiating.
