Phyllis Irene (Saccone) Allevato

Phyllis Irene Saccone Allevato, 92 of Clarksburg departed this life at her residence surrounded by her family on Mother’s Day May 13, 2018. She was born in Gypsy, West Virginia on September 20, 1925, the daughter of the late Carmine and Antionette Licchillo.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years Russell (Amos) Allevato; two brothers, John Saccone and Gerald Saccone.

She is survived by her beloved brother and devoted guardian angel Arthur Cosimo Licchillo of Jupiter, Florida, her daughter, Mary Ann Renzelli-Kiger and husband, Mark, two grandchildren, Gina Renzelli-Snuffer and husband, Travis , Carmen Renzelli and wife Adrienne and great granddaughter, Torre Renzelli. Also remembered are nieces, nephews, cousins, both in the United States and Italy and her three special care-givers Kelley Joyce, Wanda Henline and Barbara Ford.

Phyllis was a professional lady ahead of her time, devoting 30 years of her life to exemplary service with the phone company. She was an outstanding Italian cook sharing her pastries with family and friends. Phyllis had a generous spirit that had no bounds. Some of her greatest joy came from helping anyone and everyone.

Her leadership helped to establish the St James service to the Italian Heritage Festival by providing real Italian cuisine to the fare and started the tradition of the rosary in the festival parade. An honor student and graduate of Victory High School class of 1943, she was a member of The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #334, St James Alter Rosary Society and The Telephone Pioneers.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM, where a Vigil Rite will be held at 7:00 PM; Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church, 2107 Pride Avenue, Clarksburg on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Reverend Father Patsy Wash and Reverend Father William A. Anderson, as presiders. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
