Paul “Butch” Lesley Mulligan, Jr., 79, of Clarksburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, at his residence with family by his side. Born on July 27, 1946, in Clarksburg, WV, Paul was the beloved son of the late Paul Leslie Mulligan, Sr. and Gertrude Frances Ferree Mulligan.
Butch leaves behind his cherished children, Paul Lawrence Mulligan and his wife Miranda of Clarksburg and Christina Mulligan of Bridgeport; three grandchildren, Sarie Bland, Emma Mulligan, and Christopher Mulligan.
In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Ann Bissett Mulligan, who passed away on November 1, 2023 and one infant brother Gary Mulligan.
He was a graduate of Washington Irving High School, class of 1966 and proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam and later retiring from the United States Army Reserves. His strong work ethic was evident throughout his life, having been employed at the Brockway glass factory, Rosebud Foodland, the Spring Shop and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing, whittling, and building with Legos. A true family man, he loved spending time with those he held dear and had a deep appreciation for military history, which reflected his pride in service and respect for those who served. He was social and outgoing, never meeting a stranger, and had a natural way of making others feel welcome. Patient, sweet, and genuinely caring, he touched many lives with his kindness and gentle spirit. Family was always his top priority, and his love, devotion, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Route 98, Clarksburg, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM.
