Melissa Gail Thompson

Melissa Gail Thompson, 45 of West Union, passed on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 29, 1981, in Clarksburg, she was the daughter of William Gail Thompson and Deborah Kay “Chipps” Thompson.

Melissa was a devoted employee of Wolfe’s Excavating; she was a proud graduate of Doddridge County High School and continued her education through online college courses. She was an enthusiastic fan of the WV Mountaineers and cherished attending games with her son, Anthony — moments that brought her great joy and lasting memories. Together they shared many adventures, from car shows and beach trips to shopping outings and time spent enjoying the great outdoors. Melissa had a natural gift for planning activities and found happiness in simply being together. She deeply loved spending time with her nephews and extended family, who meant the world to her. Music was always part of her life, and her favorite bands included Pink Floyd and Aerosmith. She will be remembered for her warmth, her love of family, and the special memories she created with those she loved.

Melissa leaves behind a legacy of love through her son: Anthony Michael Sanchez, she also has one brother; William Eric Thompson and several nieces and nephews.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
