Mary Rose (Karakiozis) Sipko

Mary Rose Karakiozis Sipko, 99, of Clarksburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born in Clarksburg on June 6, 1927, the daughter of the late George and Wilma Carpenter Karakiozis.

On February 15, 1945, she married the love of her life, Franklin Joseph Sipko Sr. They shared 65 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on October 2, 2010.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her son, Frank Sipko Jr. and wife Angela of Stonewood, WV; her daughter, Debra Jacobs of Clarksburg, WV and her brother, Tony Karakiozis and his wife, Carmella, of Bridgeport, WV. 

She also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren: Michelle Morgan of Bridgeport, WV, Mason Jacobs and his wife, Heather, of Uniontown, PA; Daniel Sipko and his wife, Courtney, of Stonewood, WV, Elizabeth Keough of Bridgeport, WV; and Johnny Keough and his wife, Jessica, of Bridgeport, WV.

Mary was especially proud of her eight great-grandchildren: Phillip and Mallory Morgan; Riley Sipko; Lucy, Ziva, and Millie Keough; and Sam and Zoey Romano, all of whom brought her immense joy. She is also survived by several cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many extended family members and friends who will fondly remember her.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Yanis and Angelika Karakiozis of Kos Island, Greece; her maternal grandparents, John Wesley and Willa Jane Carpenter; her sisters, Willa Jean Karakiozis and Angelina Filippine; her brother, John Karakiozis; and her lifelong cousin, Olga Knapp Karakiozis.

Mary was a graduate of Victory High School, Class of 1946. She was known for her love and devotion to her family, her quiet strength, and the kindness she shared with those around her. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Amedisys Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and support they provided to Mary and her family. Also, a heartfelt gratitude to Mike Jacobs, a truly special member of our family, for his unwavering love, support, and countless acts of kindness during this difficult time.  Mary’s love, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family will remain in their hearts forever.
