Mary Mutschelknaus Obituary

Mary Frances (Davis) Mutschelknaus went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on September 25, 1944, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to Wilbert and Helen (Hickman) Davis, who preceded her in death. She grew up on her family’s farm in Big Isaac, West Virginia, where she shared many adventures with her siblings and developed a deep appreciation for faith, hard work, and family.

On April 28, 1963, Mary married the love of her life, Clarence W. Mutschelknaus, beginning a lifelong journey of love, dedication, and partnership. Together, they built a successful business and a loving family. Out of all her accomplishments, Mary’s greatest joy was being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was always there with a listening ear, helpful advice, and an embrace that radiated unconditional love.

Mary found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends, taking long walks on the beach while collecting seashells, and celebrating life’s milestones with her loved ones. A devout Christian, Mary was deeply committed to her faith and her community. She was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church, where she devoted herself to teaching children in the education department, a passion she held dearly. Later in life, she became a member of Horizons Church in Salem, continuing her dedication to her faith and service.

Mary is survived by her husband of 61 years, Clarence W. Mutschelknaus, her daughter Suzanne Osborne and son-in-law Robert Osborne, grandsons Andrew and Adrian Osborne, daughter-in-law Cindy Mutschelknaus, grandchildren Dustin, Anthony (Jenna), and Tabitha Mutschelknaus, and great-grandchildren Marleigh, Scarlett, Knox, and Asher. She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Davis (Mimi), numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends Connie and Terry Merridith.

Mary was preceded in death by her son, Clarence W. (Bill) Mutschelknaus, her infant sister Helen Ruth Davis, her sisters Carolyn Jean Gorman (Edward) and Patricia Mathews (Edward), her in-laws James and Helen (Ice) Mutschelknaus, and her sister-in-law Joann Samples (Robert).

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tomes, her caregivers, the Amedisys nurses, and Dr. Hallfor their compassionate care during Mary’s final days.

Mary’s love, kindness, and unwavering faith left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
