Mary June Jones, 73, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital with family by her side. She was born June 30, 1952 in Clarksburg, the daughter of the late James Denzil and Catherine Elizabeth Vincent Carder. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lee Jones whom she married on September 8, 1970.
Mary graduated from Bristol High School, Class of 1970. She was a CNA for over 40 years and also worked as a general contractor with her husband owning Jones Contracting for several years. Her hobbies were going to Hobby Lobby, Painting, watching Football and her favorite team, The Kansas City Chiefs. She loved family time, telling stories, giving advice, watching the grandchildren and great grandchildren in sports. She was known as Liberty’s Gormie and loved all her adopted grandkids. She was a member of Reynoldsville Baptist Church.
Mary is survived by two children, Candice Marie Murphy (John), Shinnston, Kevin Lee Jones (Teffany) Salem; grandchildren, Zacharie Davisson (Nancy), Alyssa Downward (Terance), Kayla Maxwell (Timothy), and Kolten Jones; great grandchildren, Rhett, Hattie Jo, Joel, Haysleigh, Kenna, Avery, Timothy (TJ), and one on the way; brother-in-law, Harold Jones, Shinnston; sisters-in-law, Diane Ford, Clarksburg, Sheila Marino, Morgantown; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her second parents, Arnett Roy and Mary Elizabeth Bland Jones; siblings, James Carder (Patty), Helen McIntyre (James), Winnie Poore (Warren), Richard Carder (Carol), Loretta Ruth Headley (Harlan), Ella Lowe (James), William Carder (Alice), Roy Roger Carder (Patty), Charles Carder (Sharon), Harold Carder (Diane); brothers-in-law, Arnett “Guy” Jones, and Larry Jones.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 3:00-7:00 PM and on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 12:00 Noon until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel of Davis Funeral Home at 2:00PM with Pastor Jon Hayes officiating.
