Mary Margaret "Markey" (Adams) Hood

Mary Margaret “Markey” Adams Hood, of Bridgeport passed peacefully at home, on September 28, 2019 in her 94th year after a brief illness surrounded by her family. She was born on October 23, 1924 in Clarksburg; daughter of the late Alva W. Adams and Margaret Elizabeth Snider Adams Rice. She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Blount and husband Mario, Bridgeport and their daughter, Megan Blount of Bridgeport; one son, David L. Hood II and wife Sue, Cape Coral, FL and children, Tanya McGrath and husband James and their children, Eli, Cadee, Kyleigh and husband Seth and their daughter, Piper, son, Travis Hood and wife Ines and son TJ; niece, Linda A. Hawkins and son Matthew Hawkins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one grandson, David Andrew Hood; two sisters, Mabel I. Hawkins and husband James, Annabelle White and husband Louis “Pete”; one nephew, James E "Buddy" Hawkins; Markey graduated from WI High School, Class of 1942. She retired from Sears and Roebuck after twenty nine years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sonny Croft Country Club and B.P.O.E. Lodge 482 and the local Sears Retiree Club. She enjoyed playing Bridge, word games and being on Facebook. Friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 3:00PM to 7:00PM. Graveside Service will be held at Bridgeport Cemetery on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at with Rev. Dr. Ken Ramsey officiating.  In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to Amedisys Hospice, 67 Casino Drive, Suite 102, Anmoore, WV 26323.
