Mary Elizabeth Jensen Evans

Mary Elizabeth Jensen Evans, 79, of Summersville, passed away on March 1, 2026 in Clarksburg.  She was born on March 20, 1946 in Quinwood, WV a daughter of the late Charles Albert Nutter and Esta Mae Amick Nutter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jensen.

She is survived by her daughter, Catricia “Kitten” Tiegs and husband Shannon of Foley, AL; siblings. Shelbia Masten, Daniel Nutter, David Nutter, John Nutter and Kathleen Starkey.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Arlington Nutter and Marie Coffman.

Mary was a proud graduate of Nicholas County High School and carried the values of hard work and kindness with her throughout her life. She had a deep love for the outdoors and felt most at peace surrounded by nature, whether she was camping under the stars, hiking a favorite trail, or tending lovingly to her garden. She also had a creative spirit and found joy in sewing and crocheting, often pouring her heart into handmade pieces that will be cherished for years to come.

Mary was truly a social butterfly. She never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for turning acquaintances into lifelong friends. Her easy smile, warm heart, and genuine interest in others drew people to her wherever she went. Time spent with family and friends was what she treasured most.

Above all else, Mary was an incredible mother, the best mom anyone could ask for. The bond she shared with her daughter was extraordinary. They were not only mother and daughter, but best friends and closest confidants, sharing laughter, secrets, and an unbreakable connection. Her love was steady, unconditional, and the foundation of her family’s strength.

Mary’s warmth, compassion, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
