Mary Ruth Efaw, 81, of Farmington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of her grandson by her side.
Born on July 20, 1944, in Fairmont, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Harold Clarence and Nettie Pauline Hughes Eddy. She lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. A devoted homemaker, Mary found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. Her family was the center of her world, and she never hesitated to put the needs of others before her own. To know Mary was to know a woman with a giving heart who would truly give the shirt off her back to help someone in need.
Mary found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed watching her favorite westerns and game shows, listening to country music, tending her garden and flower beds, collecting Indian statues, playing cards with family and friends, and spending peaceful afternoons on her front porch swing watching the birds. These quiet moments reflected the warmth and contentment she brought to those around her.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory: her children, Beverly Efaw of Mannington, Charles Efaw of Fairmont, and Dwayne Efaw of Farmington; her cherished grandchildren, Jay Hardman, Joyce Efaw, Ruth Parsons, Ahala Harper, Raiden Harper, Hostel Efaw, Mathis Efaw, Leighan Efaw, Brooklyn Efaw, Shannon Dye, Santiza Colter, and Latrisha Coulter; and her adored great-grandchildren, Liam and Willow. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were blessed by her love and friendship.
In addition to her parents, Mary was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Harold Wayne Efaw, two daughters Tammy Dye and Mary Efaw, whose memory she carried close to her heart, as well as her dear siblings, Clarence Frederick “John” Eddy, Edwin Jr. “Hook” Eddy, Catherine Irene Regger, and Dessie Sue Cover.
Though her family grieves her loss, they find comfort in knowing that Mary's legacy of love, strength, compassion, and selflessness will live on through the many lives she touched. Her laughter, gentle spirit, and unconditional love will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her Care Fund on her memorial page.
