Marvin "Mert" Glenn Baker

Marvin “Mert” Glenn Baker, 91, of Clarksburg, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at his daughters’ residence. He was born on September 20, 1933 in Wilsonburg, a son of the late William Henry and May Davis Baker.

Mert graduated from Victory High School, Class of 1952. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, watching birds, and walking at the mall with Kwon, Joyce and Kum. Mert also enjoyed his car collection and being at the cabin he built. He loved spending time with his family.   

Mert is survived by his children, Debra Jo Moore, Salem, Teresa Jean Kirpatrick, Reynoldsville, Karen Sue Pigott (Eddie), Lumberport; seven grandchildren, Cole Griffin, Hillary Martinez (Bruno), Jessica Griffin, Christina Rittenhouse, Joshua McAtee (Treska), Anna Moore (Tyler), and Katy Grams (Shaun); and eleven great grandchildren, Mya, Isabella, William, Kalcel, Ky’Ana, Brayden, Kenleigh, Paisley, Kimberlynn, Colter, Skyla, and one on the way, Silas; like great grandchildren, Carson Gum and Isabella Gum; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mert was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Trader Baker on April 27, 2007 and whom he married on April 4, 1953; six brothers, Paul, Edward, Delbert, Harold, Junior, and James Baker; two sisters, Lula Flanigan and Lela Marino; two sons-in-law, Robert Moore and Ray Kirpatrick. 

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 1:00-5:00 PM.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, at 12:00 Noon with Debra Jo Moore officiating. Interment will be at West Virginia National Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard.
