Maria Josefa McKane

Maria Josefa McKane, 70, of Norfolk, VA, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022 in Bridgeport under the compassionate care of hospice.  She was born on July 14, 1952 in Chipiona, Spain, a daughter of the late Salvador Vazquez Mellado and Rosa Tirado Florido.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James Patrick McKane, III, who passed away on April 22, 2019.

She is survived by her three sons, James Patrick McKane IV and his wife Ann of Lawrenceville, VA, Hugh Salvador McKane of Bridgeport and Joseph Alexander McKane of  Norfolk, VA; seven grandchildren, Alexis, Ashton, Jackson, Solana, Emry, Aiden and Liam; three siblings, Rafaela Vazquez Tirado, Salvador Vazquez Tirado and Rosa Vazquez Tirado, all of Chipiona, Spain.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Regla Vazquez Tirado.

Maria loved her children and grandchildren and also watching children for friends and family.  She enjoyed playing bingo, flower gardening, and growing fruit trees.  She was a “giver” and will be missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date for the family.
