Margaret "Louise" (Zickafoose) Gatrell Thomas

Margaret “Louise” Gatrell Thomas, 99 of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at her residence with family by her side.  She was born August 13, 1922 in Clarksburg, WV, daughter of the late Vernon D. Zickafoose and Helen C. Cartwright Robinson.

Louise graduated from Washington Irving High School, Class of 1940. She worked for Palace Furniture and the Corder Nutter Real Estate. Louise was a member of First United Methodist Church in Clarksburg, Queen Esther Chapter No. 11 of Bridgeport, Omega No. 15 Ladies White Shrine of Jerusalem, Ladies Oriental Shrine No. 87, where she holds the Grand Cross of Color of the International Order of Rainbow Girls. She was also a volunteer for United Hospital Center. Louise enjoyed clogging, bowling, playing tennis, crocheting and was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her family and making people laugh.

Louise is survived by her three daughters, Sally B Thomas and husband, Jerry, Roberta L. McClung, Rebecca S. Talkington and husband, Ty, all of Clarksburg; six grandchildren, James L. Heater, Stephanie A. Grilli and husband, Rodney, Alisha A. Schenck, Aron L. Hollar and husband, Brent, Shane Thomas and wife, Brenda, and Jason Thomas; ten great grandchildren, Alivia, Brandon, Avori, Miranda, Katelyn, Ashley and husband Patrick, Madyson, Emily, Pyper, and Brayden; four great great grandchildren, Isaiah, Emmett, Israel, and Liam; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her first husband, James R. Gartell who passed on February 3, 1986; second husband, James M. Thomas who passed on January 2, 1996; and one brother, Sonny Zickafoose.

The family would like to thank Louise’s caregivers, Pam Bonnell, Rosemary Serian and Debbie Jacobs; and also WVU Medicine Hospice for the excellent care and love.

 Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV 26301 on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 11:00AM until time of Funeral Service at 1:00PM with Pastor Michael Atkinson officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to WVU Medicine Hospice, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330 and Pray for Our Nation.
