Lula Belle (Godfrey) Maxwell

Lula Belle Maxwell, 87, of Clarksburg went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at United Hospital Center with family by her side. She was born on December 23, 1936 in Clarksburg, daughter of the late Archie Arol and Mary Angeline Estep Godfrey.

Lula Belle graduated from Victory High School, Class of 1954. She was a member of the Bible Church of God in Clarksburg. Lula Belle enjoyed singing, playing the piano, going to church, playing games, eating at Denny’s and loved the time she spent with her family.   

Lula Belle is survived by her six children, Timothy “Timmy” Ray Maxwell (Lisa) Bridgeport, Deborah Sue Sears (Thomas), Good Hope, Rebecca Ann Nuzum (James) Grafton, Darla Renee McCann, Clarksburg, Zelphia Cross, Clarksburg, Mark Andrew Maxwell, Clarksburg; twelve grandchildren, Justin Maxwell (Katy), Ashley Maxwell, Starlette Middleton (Andrew), Thomas Sears (Nacole), Jeremiah Sears (Jaclyn), Bobby Nuzum (Julia), Mandy Stottlemyer (Michael), Sarah McCann, April McCann, Devin Boyce, Gabriel Cross, and Casey Maxwell; fourteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and one on the way; two siblings, Joyce Ann Beverlin, Clarksburg, and Richard Lee Godfrey, Clarksburg; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lula Belle is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Bernard Maxwell on May 6, 1997; six siblings, Robert Godfrey, Sue Shultz, Ronnie Godfrey, Jerry Godfrey, Zelphia Meadows, and Ronald Lynn Godfrey.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV 26301 on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 3-7 PM and on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 9:00Am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon with Pastor James R Nuzum officiating.
