Lorraine Joan Cain Hutson, 95, of Morgantown, formerly of Sedalia Community, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Morgantown, where she had lovingly made her home for the past several years.
Born on May 22, 1931, in Clarksburg, Lorraine was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur Cain and Theresa Harriett Perine Cain. Throughout her 95 years, she exemplified kindness, devotion, and unconditional love, leaving a lasting impact on all who were blessed to know her.
On July 22, 1949, she married the love of her life, Dorsey “Allen” Hutson. Together they shared over 50 years of marriage until Allen’s passing on September 15, 1999. Their union was built on faith, dedication, and a deep love for family, creating a foundation that continues to bless generations.
Lorraine was a faithful member of Vermont Baptist Church in Sedalia. While she may have never sought recognition, her life's work was among the most meaningful of all. As a devoted homemaker, she poured her heart into caring for her husband, raising her children, and nurturing her grandchildren. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and acceptance. She taught through example the values of faith, hard work, compassion, and family. Her greatest joy came from seeing those she loved gathered around her table, sharing laughter, stories, and precious moments together.
To her children and grandchildren, Lorraine was the steady heart of the family—a source of wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering support. Her love was evident in countless meals prepared, hugs given, prayers offered, and sacrifices made. In her later years, she embraced opportunities to travel, creating treasured memories with family and friends, always carrying her gentle spirit and joyful smile wherever she went.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: son Douglas Hutson and wife Billie of Salem; daughter Beth Cober and husband Randy of Morgantown; grandchildren David Hutson (Bethany) of Morgantown, Ryan Hutson (Jessica) of Barnesville, Ohio, Andy Clump (Anne) of Morgantown, Anneliesa Alprin (Scott) of Washington, D.C., Dona Aguayo of Durham, North Carolina, Travis Cober (Jordan) of Allen, Texas, and Erika Cober (Aaron) of Durham, North Carolina. She was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren: Derek, Garrett, Kinleigh, Ellie, Hudson, Caleb, Savanna, Addison, Ava, Lily, Nicholas, Jack, Marlie, Jacob, Tori, David, Sienna, Miles, Mina, Max, and Louella, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Lona Katherine Davis and husband Isaac, and Juanita L. Davis and husband Carson.
Though her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind and the example of love and faith she lived every day. Lorraine's legacy is not measured in accomplishments or possessions, but in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely. Her gentle presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
