Linda Lou Davis, 76, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Tygart Center, leaving behind a lifetime of love, kindness, and cherished memories. She was born on July 6, 1949, in Doddridge County, a beloved daughter of the late Harry E. and Ruby Lucille Merritt Boring.
She is survived by her sister, Cynthia Sue Johnston of Bridgeport; her sister-in-law, Susie Boring of Weirton. Linda’s life was rooted in family, and though she never had children of her own, her heart was full as she lovingly embraced her nieces and nephews as if they were hers: James King (Leah), Todd King (Kalpana), Chrissy Rouse (Terry), Gene Boring (Susie), David Boring (Nina), Angela Boring, Clinton Boring (Bambi), Shawna Holstein (Tim), and Bill Glen Davis (Jodi), along with several great-nieces and great-nephews who brought her endless joy.
In addition to her parents, Linda was reunited in passing with her siblings: Jack Boring (Mary), Barbara Davis (Joseph), Martha Boring, Kenneth “Buck” Boring, Raymond “Jock” Boring, and Larry Boring—each of whom she held dearly in her heart throughout her life.
A proud graduate of Doddridge County High School, Class of 1967, Linda dedicated 37 years of faithful service to the West Virginia State Police. Even after retiring, her strong work ethic and sense of purpose led her back for another five years as a civilian employee, continuing to serve a place and people she deeply cared about.
Linda was a woman of quiet faith and strong compassion. A Baptist by faith, she lived her beliefs through her actions—always ready to lend a helping hand, always putting others before herself. She found her greatest peace outdoors, whether camping with her beloved brother Jock, fishing alongside her brothers, or simply tending to her yard. Those simple moments brought her happiness.
Her love extended to all, including her faithful dog, Henry, who meant the world to her and even brought her comfort with visits during her time in the nursing home.
Linda will be remembered as a gentle, giving soul—someone who loved deeply, cared freely, and touched the lives of many with her kindness and warmth. Her presence will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Route 98, Clarksburg, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 2:00p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:00p.m., with Pastor David Doak officiating.
