Laurence Harmon Nida

Laurence Harmon Nida, 73 of West Milford passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at New Martinsville Center.  He was born December 28, 1946 in Clarksburg, son of the late Melvin Gordon and Jeanett Boyd Dickinson Nida. 

Laurence graduated from Salem College in 1973 and obtained a doctor of Jurisprudence from Franklin Pierce Law School Concord New Hampshire in 1976.

He was a retired captain from the US Air Force, practiced law in South Carolina, and served in the Army National Guard. He had his own computer repair service, drove tractor trailers, worked in the retail environment, and was very active at his local church Salem Seventh Day Baptist.  Because he loved the Lord, he also read and followed what is written in the Torah, including the Lord’s days mentioned in Leviticus 23, and proper diet of clean things. We will see him again at the resurrection. He also loved to dance in a godly way when given the opportunity and his favorite verses were Numbers 6:24-26, which is the Aaronic blessing given to Moses by God. He loved to raise his hands and praise the Lord. He was blessed with talents in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.

Laurence is survived by his wife Vicki Irene Faris Nida, West Milford; children, Adrian Michael and Shaun Jeffrey both Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Aly Marie, Molly Katharine, Stephen James, Joseph Samuel, Caroline Evelynn, Emma Elizabeth, and Natalie Isabella; along with his sister Sylvia and her husband William Worrall in Marshall, Virginia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Eleanor.

A Private Family Service will be held at Davis Funeral Home 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at 2PM. We will be webcasting the service on his memorial page on the funeral home website. If for some reason the webcast drops, we will finish recording and reload once completed to watch.  A public memorial will be held at a later date.
