Lanie Rechell Hofer

Lanie Rechell Hofer, 38, of Bridgeport, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025 in Morgantown.  She was born on May 2, 1987 in Clarksburg, a daughter of Tammie Hofer Knox of Shinnston.

She is survived by her brother Jevon Hofer of Clarksburg.

Lanie was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, class of 2005, where she was a cheerleader and was also on the swim team.  When she was younger, she participated in gymnastics, tumbling and dancing.  Lanie will be remembered for her generous heart, strong work ethic, and the joy she brought to those around her. She spent cherished time helping her grandfather at Ronnie Crim Meathouse, where her dedication and kindness were evident to all. Lanie had a love for life’s simple pleasures by collecting frogs, each one a little treasure, and spending time at the beach, where she found peace and happiness. Her giving nature touched many lives, and her memory will be held close by family and friends who loved her dearly.

Lanie will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, at 2:00 pm. Pastor Gary Reed will Officiate the service.

Immediately following the service there will be food & fellowship next door at the Community Building until 6:00 pm.
