Kevin Swann Obituary

Our beloved baby brother, Kevin Lynn Swann, 64, of Clarksburg, WV, left his earthly body in the early morning hours of Monday, April 6, 2026.   Kevin was born on May 17th, 1961, on Beech Lick in Doddridge County, West Virginia, one of 14 children born to his loving parents, Lewis Marshall and Mary Lucille Swann.

Kevin is survived by two sons, Caleb and Logan Swann. Kevin’s surviving siblings include Barbara Hart (John, deceased), Salem, WV; Walter Swann, Ripley, WV; Mary Evans (Jack, deceased), Clarksburg, WV; Carolyn Moore (Mike), Clarksburg, WV; Wilma Nicholson (David L. Sr., deceased), West Union, WV; Ronald Lee Swann (Sherry), Big Flint, WV; Junior Swann (Kaye), Salem, WV; Larry Swann (Amy), Charleston, WV; Beverley Swann Hudkins (Allen) Clarksburg, WV; Debra Swann, Clarksburg, WV; and Dave Swann (Faith), West Union, WV; and former sisters-in-law, Deloris Swann and Janet Swann.

He was preceded in death by two loving sisters, Ethel Lane (Chuck, deceased), and Sarah (John) Pumphrey.

Kevin wanted all to know that two of his sisters in particular, Carolyn and Sarah, provided him with invaluable kindness, love, and support throughout his life. Among those others left to mourn his loss are 168 nieces and nephews (including great) as well as a whole host of friends and distant relatives. Being the youngest of 14, it goes without saying that Kevin was spoiled by his parents and siblings. He was a precocious youth with a beautiful spirit. At times, he could be a little “ornery.” As he matured, Kevin developed into one of the greatest athletes to ever compete on behalf of Doddridge County High School, from which he graduated in 1979. Excelling in all sports, Kevin was the captain of one of the best football teams in Bulldog history, earning All-State honors his Senior year. Kevin anchored a staunch Bulldog defense which defeated Pineville High in the State High School Football Playoffs, led by future NFL All-Pro Running Back Curt Warner. That Bulldog defense held Warner to the fewest rushing yards in his storied high school career. Kevin was captain of the Bulldog basketball team where he earned All-State honors, and he was a star pitcher on the Bulldog baseball team. His athletic prowess and affable demeanor led to him being voted “Mr. Doddridge County High School” his senior year. Upon graduation, Kevin held a variety of jobs and was a “jack of all trades.” Kevin would eventually retire from Dominion Resources after a successful career, having worked on pipelines and compressor stations in the Parkersburg and Sistersville areas for decades. If we had to use one word to describe Kevin, it would be “Sweetness.” He was a friend to many and well known for his collegial personality and infectious smile. He enjoyed hunting, tending to his garden, following Penn State Football, and fishing. Most importantly of all, Kevin was a devout Christian like his parents. Although we miss Kevin, we know where he is and we know who’s there with him.
