Kathryn Louise Wilt, 88, of Buckhannon, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Taylor Healthcare Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Her life was one of quiet strength, creativity, and deep devotion to those she cherished.
Born on March 14, 1937, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Kathryn was the beloved daughter of the late Wayman Charles and Virginia Delores Frum Murray. From an early age, she carried a gentle kindness and an artistic soul that would define her life.
Kathryn was a proud graduate of Victory High School and devoted her life to her family as a homemaker, nurturing her home with warmth, love, and imagination. A talented artist, she was especially known for her beautifully painted old-world Santas, which she sold at craft shows over the years. She delighted in spotting her Santa’s on neighborhood porches, taking quiet pride in knowing her art had found a home and brought joy to others.
Her heart for service extended beyond her family. Kathryn served as a Girl Scout troop leader, shaping young lives with patience and encouragement. She also had a love for adventure and togetherness, traveling across the United States with her beloved husband, Elwood. Those journeys often included her grandchildren, creating treasured memories as they explored nearly every state together.
Kathryn’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Delores Jean Bord and husband John of Grafton, and Stanley Wilt; her grandchildren, Nicole Heflin, Aaron Wilt, Meghan Beavers, and Stanley Wilt II; and her great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Carter, Seth, Wesley, Ashlynne, Allie, Autumn, and Brant, each of whom was a source of immense pride and love. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Murray of Johnstown, WV; her special friends, Rita and Jerry Cochran; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Elwood Stanley Wilt; her son, Michael Wilt; and her siblings, Wanda Wycoff and John Banks.
Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Route 98, Clarksburg, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Ken Heiney officiating. Interment will follow at Lumberport Lions Club Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.davisfuneralhomewv.com.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Taylor Healthcare Center and Amedysis Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness shown to Kathryn in her final days. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, artist, and friend—a wonderful lady whose gentle spirit and creative heart touched many lives.
