Julie Lynn James, 57, of Grafton, passed away peacefully at The Rosewood Center on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Born on January 10, 1969, in Vallejo, California, Julie was the beloved daughter of Helen Scarbrough Stepps of Medford, OR and the late Melvin Stepps.
Julie was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, cherished sister, and loyal friend whose warmth and kindness touched countless lives. She leaves behind her children, Kayleigh Sharkey and spouse Jaymie of Medford, OR, Krista Wettstein and spouse Harvey of Medford, OR, and Sean Turner of Bismarck, ND, who were the center of her world. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Mary Kate McQuain, Mariah Souchik, Isabella Turner, Nathaniel Turner, Kerri Turner, and Isaac Wettstein, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.
In addition to her mother, Julie is survived by her brothers, Dwayne Stepps and spouse Karen of Empire, CA, and Victor Stepps and spouse Amber Morgan of Medford, OR, along with many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Stepps, and her sister at heart, Claudette Moreno, whose bond with Julie was one of deep love and friendship. She was also reunited in passing with several beloved aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
Julie graduated from Downey High School and lived her life with a beautiful, free spirit that touched everyone around her. She had a deep love for music, animals, and reading, and found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. Julie had an enormous heart, the kind of person who would help anyone without hesitation. She was goofy, adventurous, and unapologetically herself, always living life on her own terms. Her laughter, kindness, and vibrant soul left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know her.
Per Julie’s wishes she will be cremated.
Though she will be deeply missed, Julie’s love and memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
