Judith “Judy” Saliga Layton

Judith “Judy” Saliga Layton, 77 of Bridgeport, WV passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at United Hospital Center. She was born on August 24, 1947 in Clarksburg, daughter of the late Joseph Vincent and Sophia Teresa Selizen Saliga.

Judy graduated from Notre Dame High School, Class of 1965 and WV Business College. She worked for Dr James Genin and for the FBI. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens: she especially loved her Miss Kim lilacs, roses and peonies.  Judy loved reading her favorite book the Bible. She was famous for the cookies she would bake and share with others.  

Judy is survived by her husband of 50 years, James “Jim” Layton whom she married on June 5, 1974; one son, Stefan Layton, Bridgeport; ten siblings, Joseph J Saliga (Gena), Chicago, IL, Amelia C Tolton (Tom), Midland, MI, Maria C Saliga, Kingsport, TN, Claude J Saliga (Alisa), Mount Clare, Frances J Saliga (Lori), Chicago, IL, Michael J Saliga (Deanna), Bridgeport, Margaret Mary Stout (Tim), Bridgeport, Martin P Saliga (Lisa) Shippensburg, PA, David A Saliga, Mount Clare, WV, and Thomas J Saliga, Sachse, TX; 24 nieces and nephews and her cat Sammi.

In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her sister, Suzanne B Reger.  

Family and friends will be received at the Davis Funeral Home, Friday, December 13, 2024 from 3:00PM-7:30PM and on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 9:00AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00AM with Pastor George Mesto officiating.
