Joshua Mason Nicholson, 48, of Portsmouth, Ohio, formerly of Lost Creek, West Virginia, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at The Ohio State University Hospital.
Born on August 31, 1977, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Josh was the beloved son of the late Randy “Odie” Nicholson and Kathy Jean (Dodd) Nicholson.
Josh was a proud graduate of South Harrison High School, Class of 1999. Following graduation, he pursued his passion for technology by attending IT school in Portsmouth, Ohio. He went on to work at Shawnee Counseling Center, where he dedicated himself to helping others. Outside of work, Josh found freedom and joy on the open road, especially when riding his Harley-Davidson.
He leaves behind his fiancée, Debra Bennett; his cherished daughter, Kamryn Lynn Tharp of Elkins; and his stepdaughters, Torince Norman of Fairmont and Journee Bennett of Mt. Clare. He is also survived by his loving sister, Kara Ann Wright and her husband, Brandon; his special uncle, John Dodd of Mt. Clare; his special cousin, Tracee Dodd of Mt. Clare; and his mother- and father-in-law, Debbie and Dennis Zickefoose of Mt. Clare.
In addition to his parents, Josh was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clyde Mason Dodd and Velma Shaw Dodd, and his paternal grandparents, Otis Titus Nicholson and Marjory Marie Keesling Nicholson.
In honoring Josh’s wishes, he will be cremated.
Though he has left this world, Josh’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him—in shared stories, in quiet rides, and in the lasting strength of family bonds. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
