Josephine Lenora "Jay" (Vallelonga) Spatafore

Josephine Lenora “Jay” Spatafore, 95, of Clarksburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at her residence with her loving husband and family at her side. She was born on October 22, 1927 in Anmoore, WV, daughter of the late Cosimo and Emmecolata Meleca Vallelonga.

Josephine graduated from Bridgeport High School, Class of 1945. She worked at Maidenform and Val-Tool and was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Saint James Catholic Church, the Church Choir, and the Altar-Rosary Society. Jay belonged to the Mall Walker Association and was an avid bingo player at the Knights of Columbus.

Josephine was a devout Catholic, never missing a Sunday Mass, praying the rosary and Novenas. She enjoyed celebrating traditional Italian family holidays and gatherings.

Josephine’s home was open to everyone; she was always offering food and a seat at the table. She was not just a loving wife and companion to Jobey for 74 years, she was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and a devoted friend.

Josephine is survived by her husband of 74 years, Joseph “Jobey” Spatafore whom she married on November 13, 1948; one daughter, Lenora Boyle and her husband Jay of Fairfield, Iowa; two sons, Dickie Spatafore and his wife Jeanette of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Michael Spatafore of Clarksburg; three siblings, John Franklin Vallelonga and his wife Mary Moore of Elkins, Mary Jane Merandi and her husband Sam of Mount Clare, and Daniel Vallelonga of Mount Clare; six grandchildren, Grace Boyle Knapp and her husband Colin, David Boyle, Cassie Spatafore Yates and her husband Vinnie, Luke Spatafore and his wife Donna, Tu Spatafore, and Mick Nice; six great grandchildren, Charlie Knapp, Alyssa Knight, Eli Spatafore, Caleb Spatafore, Cierra Yates, and Tony Yates; many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by two infant children, Cassandra Lorraine and James Edward; four siblings, Joseph Vallelonga, Larry Vallelonga, Michael Vallelonga, and Angelina Ovies.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 2:00 – 8:00pm, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 pm; Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 11:00 am with Father Akila Rodrigo and Father Stephen Vallelonga as co-celebrants.
