Joseph Marion Butler, Sr., 70, of Clarksburg, passed away at Louis A. Johnson Medical Center on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. He was born on January 28, 1955 at home in Hepzibah, WV, son of the late James Andrew and Rose Marie Butler.
Joseph Butler is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene Butler, whom he married on April 17, 1972.
In addition to his wife he is survived by seven children; Kimberly Butler of Mexico, Shannon Fulton and husband Parker of Shinnston, Linda Patton and husband Billy Lauer of Clarksburg, Andrew Butler and wife Valerie of Clarksburg, Shawn Martin and fiancé Mallory of Jacksonville, FL, Michelle Yeager and husband Art, and James Martin of Weston; 29 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, five siblings; Kathy Burrows, Girt Reed, Helen Wright and husband Bud, Virginia Butler, and Frank Butler of WV.
In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by one son, Joseph M “Joey” Butler Jr; one daughter, Melissa Butler; one brother, Jim butler and wife Nancy; three sisters, Vonda Trask and husband Norman, Jean Simcox and husband Bro, Florann Riddle and husband Bill; one brother-in-law, Willard Burrows.
Joseph served his country in the United States Marines. Worked as a Photographer for Olan Mills. He enjoyed playing on his computer, traveling all around, and gambling. Joseph enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
